An evening at Bootlegger



Bootlegger being situated in the heart of Bangalore on Lavelle road, is the pleasant place for fun dinning. This area is always close to my heart. The fun energy that I feel from the place is always fabulous.This place has its own magic, it bring out the little devil inside me for the fun times ahead.




Their beer collection has always amused me because most the beer present in their menu is not easily available (due to non-availability four beers on the menu is not available but the rest are). This time I had got my own vehicle so I could indulge in only one drink, I asked for a suggestion and I was suggested Sazerac. Sazerac contains Whiskey, Muddled sugar cube and a dash of biters with a lemon twist with loads of ice, thus drink is the brainchild of a Cerole Apothecary who moved to New Orleans from West Indies in the early 19th century. Its primary ingredient was changed from Cocnac to Whiskey due to popular american tastes. This being my only drink for the night, it was strong. The taste was amazing and the best part of the drink was that the never diluted a bit, till the last sip it was the same and that was the part of this drink I liked a lot.

I regret getting my ride tonight as I had to restrict myself to one drink as the starters was urging me to have different drinks. The Chicken hot wings of this place is something to die for, its just delicious. The only problem is the way i eat this dish is like a cave man because that's when i enjoy this dish till the last bite.

The breaded chicken tenders was kinda plan but the dip was rich enough to make regenerate the dish to taste fabulous.

Chili Garlic prawn was a very good combination for my drink. The prawn was cooked very well and the after spice in mouth was a delight with the drink. The crunchiness of the prawn was just fabulous.

Chili paneer is a delivering dish to the vegetarians. This can be passed as a chili chicken but the cook has managed to keep the dish in such a way that in the end a slight taste of paneer is available, due to this i cannot pass this as a chicken dish, my beloved veg friends are spared.

I had pakoda loads if times, so this time I had ordered the chicken pakoda. This dish can be easily offered to a lot of people as just pakoda. The chicken was well marinated in the batter. I like is it but this did not got well with my drink but as a dish this was a genius effect by the cook.

Chicken Caesar salad is the only salad I willingly order and eat. Bootlegger did not let me down. The Chicken Caesar salad was really tasty. The dressing was amazing, the chicken was properly cooked and the vegetables was fresh. A good Caesar salad always gets my hopes high of the place. The beer collection and a very good Chicken Caesar salad made my expectations very high, my expectation was never let down.

I have heard alot about the nachos from this place but I haven't had the pleasure to taste myself, the people who have told me about nachos have praised them alot. I would recommend to have the same for your first order. If kinda heavy but its delicious till the end.

For my main course I ordered a chicken chilli dog for myself. It was simply amazing but i recommend that you ask the chief to put in the jalopenos inside the bum, if like the tangy flavor then your surely in for a maga treat. I had the chili dog with the jallopenos on the outside and every bite was woow. This did not fill me up but the taste and saturated my tongue.

Rumana had gone for the classic fish and chips which was well cooked. I am not a fan of fish and chips combination, this was my first time but this tasted really good, after a point it had become a bit salty for my taste.

For dessert we decide order something slightly outside the menu. Basically we ordered from the breakfast menu, i.e Waffles with fresh cream and chocolate. Luckily the same was available. I must say when you have fresh cream and good chocolate with waffles it is a very different feeling of to the dish.

For recommendations in food, I ask you to order anything on the menu and it will be tasty. For drinkers there are loads of bottled beers along with wonderful cocktails and mocktails. The bartender is very innovative, you can just say the type of base or flavor you would want in drink and it will be made in ways that you would surely love.

Shelled in Sheraton

Bene at SHERATON BANGALORE HOTEL at Brigade Gateway is Sheraton’s signature Italian style restaurant with cheerful colors, natural wood and stone. It was my first visit at Bene but surely not the last. I was invited to be part of the food tasting event during the sea food festival 'In a shell'. I was truly honored. My entire treatment at Bene was fabulous and I really appreciated the way the staff and chef treated me during my visit.

The moment i saw the open Persian Terrace, it is was very beautiful site, loved the way it was decorated. We walked into Bene and the atmosphere was different but it was soothing. The place was beautifully decorated. The treat for me was the lobster and crab kept in the blow of ice. The meal was invented by Mr Chef Hemanth Kumar


I had red wine for the entire course of meal but I learnt that the choice of wine for this meal was white wine. I also learnt that the reason for a wine drinker swirl wine in a glass is to release the aroma of the wine.This was the few lesson that was learnt by me from Mr Vijayan Gangadharan.


Duo of Bruschetta is a slow poached prawn with fresh tomato, basil, garlic and steamed crab meat with pickled onion.

The slow poached prawn has a very unique blend with the fresh tomato, basil and garlic the entire portion was seemed to have one taste. The prawn meat was tender and the freshness of tomato, basil and garlic was the a very good choice.

The steamed crab meat with pickled onion was delicious. The same was due to the pickled onion which was the cherry on top of the steamed crab. The taste was enjoyed till it hit my stomach.


















Oyster "reinvented"

Oyster "reinvented" was an experimental dish for me. I haven't had oyster before in my entire life but I would say that if oysters taste so good then I would never miss a chance to have it again. The reason I liked the was it was fried, I might not have got the actual taste but i did get the taste of the oyster in a way that i like it. The fried oyster with agrodolce, fennel, onion and peppers made the my entire mouth feel fabulous with the reinvented taste.















Seafood Chowder

Seafood Chowder was the second serving. I must say that the soup was tasty till the taste bite of fresh clams, mussels, prawns and crab meat, along with the last sip of the soup. If this was served in a bigger bowl then this might has well become my main course. This meal has everything and all the meat was cooked to perfection. The oyster was in the shell but it was tender enough for it to come off the same with easy, it found its resting place in my stomach. The mussels, prawns, crab and oyster meat was a magnificent blend of meat.  I must say that Chef Hemanth Kumar has struck pearls with this dish.














Lobster, Asparagus & Pasta

Till this meal, i had not felt the wine over power the taste of the food. The wine did over power the taste of the main course but luckily for me that I had only a small portion of the glass left, due to which actual flavors of the Lobster, Aparagus & Pasta was not felt completely. A sprinkle on dry tomato was on the side of the plate that added to the presentation of the dish. A sprinkle of pepper was freshly added on to the dish which added to the flavor. Lobsters do not have a unique taste of it own which enabled the chef to play around with it to make such a wonderful dish.

The chef was kind enough to send a small portion of Smoky Pasta and mussels. The smoky flavor in this was delicious. This dish was a little richer in flavor due to which I liked it better than the Lobster.

Now its time for Walnut & almond tart, this dessert was just what made the entire meal complete for me. For me the dessert has to be good as this is the last item on the meal that I would carry for a longer time and this was simply amazing. This dessert lingered my taste bugs for a longer time and it was a very good way for me to end my dinner.

Rediscover your world


Most of the people in the present world tend to the same things in the same manner every day. They get up in the morning at the same time, end up taking the same route to office and back home, order the same dish whenever they eat out, go to same theater to watch a movie, etc., if by chance any unexpected things come up then their whole life is turned upside down. We all know that nature has its ways to keep things in balance. The nature’s motto is “survival of the fittest”.


This video shows Shanky’s initial disappointment when he fails in his initial efforts but with the right motivation from his girl friend, he ended up doing a lot of things. Those things gave him a sense of belonging to himself and his world. The way things end up being a part of you is the biggest part of being a human being. So this is “Discover Project” that is taken up in the video. We in life leave a part of our self in things, which is the reason we tend not to give up our old things. Just for a change try disposing those things that we have a tendency to say I will use it in the future. Then buy a new random thing and try is over, interestingly you might end up liking it more than what you disposed.

Shanky in approximately a month discovered himself in a new way, it doesn’t mean that he will stop trying more new things. Shanky welcomes new people in his project and I am all ready to be a part of this project of it with my list of things to be done before I hit 30.

1)      Backpack to any underdeveloped country for a month to understand the hardships of life.
2)      Business trip to a developed country to know the value of work and time.
3)      Learn a dance form.
4)      Date two foreigners.
5)      Buy a cruiser bike and travel at least half of India.
6)      Learn to play one musically instrument and play in front of a live audience.
7)      Win a karaoke contest.
8)      Spend time with orphan kids.
9)      Sky dive in Australia or New Zealand.
10)   Scuba dive in Maldives.
11)   Quit smoking.
12)   Travel to all states in India and have its special dish of that state.
13)   Buy an IPhone in my money (not under down payment).
14)   Party in Las Vegas
15)   Drink beer and eat pork from a pub in Germany
16)   Meditate in Himalayas.
17)   Participate in a 5k Marathon and complete it.
18)   Take up teaching for underprivileged kids.
19)   Volunteer in helping out a blind person in there exam.
20)   Camp out in the jungle with friends.
21)   Buy a champagne and open like Cameron Dias in the movie “What happened in Vagas”

Next list will be after after I complete this or when I hit 30 ;)
