Pizza Corner - Experience a slice of life

We had a pizza party at Pizza Corner at Vijay Nagar branch in Bangalore. I just said ‘wow, when I came to know that I was among the few to have this pleasure. Pizza has always been that food which I loved to indulge and experiment with. So I was really thrilled and made sure that I go on an empty stomach, so that I get to eat everything. We were eleven of us that got the opportunity to have these delicacies.

The best thing I love about a pizza is usually the toppings and the cheese than the crus. To my pleasure, we all were allowed to walk in the kitchen and make our own pizza. Hearing this actually made me feel the butterflies flying in my stomach. We all made our very own pizza, garlic bread and conizza. Initially we had no idea where to start making the pizza but the staff was very helpful and helped us in making the pizza. The staff made the base that we required i.e. pan base, normal base, thin crust, etc. We all choose our base and started off. There were a few pizza made with everything on it and tasted like a cocktail but they were a few that actually tasted wonderful and delicacy. The one set back was that a few of us found that pizza corner does not have different variety of cheese. We requested pizza corner to introduce different types of cheese so that we have the opportunity to have more variety.

Now come to the actual eating. We had our own creations, which were 8 pizzas, 2 conizza and 2 garlic bread. We all indulged into the pizza like hungry animals. We all made sure that we share and have each bite of all the pizza. There were so many different pizza and all our own, I might say that we loved all. The making of a conizza is also a difficult task because without the right toppings the whole thing would become dry. Hats off to the people who actually experimented and found the right combination of toppings so that we can have the best pizza which tasted right (Rumana and Nirav)

After eating our pizza’s we ordered some more pizzas, one conzzia, one garlic bread and one pasta from the menu. We had a blast which our conversations and the order.

The first thing we do when we get our pizza, we start off by putting the seasoning and the flakes, and also dip the entire pizza in the ketchup. This shouldn’t be done, as we end up losing the entire taste of the pizza. Therefore, next time you buy pizzas try having the first bite and taste the actual pizza. If the pizza was meant to be had with flakes and seasoning then the order would have served with those. So try it out and if you feel the need to add seasoning and flacks do so depending on your taste buds. Do not dip your pizza in the ketchup also, add only so much which will blend with the pizza and not over power the pizza and end up giving you only the taste of the ketchup.

We had garlic breads, conizzas, pasta and pizzas, now it was time to order the dessert we order apple pie and Choco Strawberry Crumble. The apple pie was very pleasing. The Choco Strawberry Crumble was not my choice because I know that chocolate and strawberry combination is not a good one. The first bite I had the chocolate and the strawberry parts and ended up not liking it. Then I had the entire dessert by the individual layers, which was quite delicious.

Pub Crub, The Boozy Griffin

The feeling that I experienced once I entered The Boozy Griffin was like going through the space continuum portal and walking in a classic UK Pub. The place is spacious and they are a few unique things that I personally loved about the place was the empty phone booth, the smokers section and the music. The empty phone booth reduces the outside sound which will enable any one to make private conversation inside the booth. Now coming to the smokers section, this is the only place where I found the smokers section as wonderful as the rest of the place. The room can be a little more ventilated. They basically played rock but the song selection was amazing.

We met a few of my other friends there and we all ordered one Foxtail (whiskey based), two Strawberry Citrus (mock tail) and one Cosmopolitan (vodka based). I had opted for Cosmopolitan and it is a bit strong but it tasted wonderful, it reminded me about fashion vodka that I had at my friend’s house party. If you are a person who likes whiskey then I would suggest you to go for Foxtail which is amazing the blend of whiskey was so mind blowing. If you are a teetotaller then to kick start your taste bugs then you have to order Strawberry Citrus but if your sweet tooth is still asking of sweet then I would suggest you English fruit frappe. I finished my Cosmopolitan early and ordered Capiroska which is also vodka based and this was like a vodka based ice tea but it tasted wonderful. It was not strong and gave me a warm feeling in my throat when I drank it. Ho Ho Ho and a bottle of rum and vodka is all that I need.

We ordered various starters with our drinks. The first order was Manchego Stuffed Jalapeno, this was the only starter which was repeated. So you now that you cannot miss this veg starter. If you love sea food then starter for you would be Britpop prawns, this was in two words crunchy and tasty. If you do prefer sea food then you can go with Devil’s Chicken Supreme, it was slightly not done but the taste was amazing. In veg we ordered Magic shroom, Go-Green salad and Tapas plater. The magic shroom was a delicacy that should not be missed if you like mushroom. Go-Green salad was okay as I felt it to be a bit dry. Tapas platter got over as it was being severed on the table, I managed to get the taste of everything and it tasted good.

Before you order anything else kindly order the Classic Chilli Chese Baguette, this went very well with the Caipioska. The bread was soft and crunchy which is a very rare combination.

The main course which made me drool while I taste was Penne Pomodoro in veg, Basa fish steak with mushroom hollandaise in sea food and Braised pork in pink pepper sauce in pork. I had ordered the Cottage cheese Brochettee, the rice was well cooked and the cheese dipped panner blended very well with the rice. Farmhouse steaks is another delicious main course in veg, which was blended and cooked for perfection. Angel hair pasta with pinenut thyme cream sauce did not excite me too much as I was already stuffed.

Now it was time for the dessert but sadly there were none available but then we order one Key lime pie which was very close to a dessert than a drink. The main attraction of this was the cinnamon which was decorated like salt for a tequila shot.

Do visit this place soon for the best ambiance, polite and prompt service, good music, best drinks, delicious food and to have a great time.

When Magnitude of Magnum was felt

I was given a privilege to attend the launch of Magnum Ice cream in Bangalore. This was my very first time that I was about to eat this ice cream. It was launched by Chef Kunal Kapur, he has been the judge in Master Chef seasons and has recently launch his book named 'A Chef in every home'. The entire launch session was an interactive session.

The essence of Magnum was explained by the host, he had tasted these delicacies abroad as a kid but he had waited for 32 years for it to launch in India, to have the ice cream here. He told us that in the US when someone tells “let’s get some ice cream” it refers to the magnum. This is the ice cream that they all loved to enrich their taste bugs when they want an ice cream. It was made by pure Belgium chocolate. Now my taste bugs were tingling to have the ice cream.

Chef asked us (the audience) to interact by asking a few questions. One of the question was the history  of chocolates. Chocolates was initially found in South Africa and was had as a drink by the mass in 1800’s. This was taken by Spanish to their country which later spread to all the places around the world. The other question was our liking towards the chocolate. Chef Kunal told his story, as a child he was brought up in a joint family where his grandfather told that whose so ever gets A grade in their school, he/she gets a chocolate. Chef Kunal never got as he never good an A grade in his school life. A dear blogger Rumana's story was the best as she always took “chocolate injection” which meant that whenever she visited the doctor for check up, she was supposed to be given chocolates. She even admits to take chocolates as bribes also. This is what all of us do but she was brave enough to tell it. I remember that my brother used to buy a lot of chocolates and store it in his cupboard, whenever I could, I would take a few chocolates and eat without his knowledge. He never used to get angry but he would just get more chocolates and I loved it.

After that we were given three sample of chocolates. Chef Kunal asked us to try one by one by rubbing the same on over palette and get the difference between them.

·         The first sample was light brown, I tasted it and it was sweet. This contained more of chocolate butter which reduces the bitter taste of cocoa and as I rubbed this sample, it rubbed off relatively slowly.

·         The second sample was dark brown, I tasted it and it tasted bitter. This contained more of cocoa due to which the taste was there. This sample when rubbed against the palette disappeared ever soon.

·         The third sample was dark brown but still had a relative lighter shade than the second sample, I tasted it and it taste was bitter and sweet. This contained dark chocolate as the outer layer and contained white chocolate inside. This sample took the longest time to rub off. Chef Kunal told that white chocolate is not considered as a chocolate in a lot place as it does not contain cocoa.

Now we were given Magnum Classic. This was the launch that we were waiting for. After a count, all of us indulged our self in the ice cream. I understood why the ice cream is known as “Adult Pleasure”. The first bite, we hear a crisp crack, the taste was unexplainable and after the bite a small pleasure which sounds like ‘Hmmm’ was let out by the majority. Chef Kunal was trying to interact with us for another experiment but all of us were so involved in ice cream that we hardly interacted back. Now I had tasted the pleasure of a Magnum.

We all had the Magnum Classic and now a task was given by Chef Kunal. We were divided in a groups and he asked us to decorate a Magnum with a few ingredients and make a Magnum Sundae. This was the task in hand. We were given the Magnum Chocolate Truffle and Magnum Almond. Our team use one Magnum Chocolate Truffle for decorating the Magnum and one of Chocolate Truffle and Almond for the Sundae. Chef Kunal was impressed by all groups efforts.

I took out a Magnum Almond after the task and got lost with it. The taste was mesmerizing  It actually gave me pleasure, my whole body moved with the first bite. I loved every bite of it.

The last but not the least I had my Magnum Chocolate Truffle. This was the ice cream that I would die for, the taste was so wonderful that I am actually drooling all over my keyboard as I write about it.
My suggestion to all of you who is reading, please stop drooling and go get yourself a Magnum ice cream and indulge in the adult pleasure. Note this ice cream is for adults and kids can have it only with the permission and guidance of an adult ;)

I thank food blogger association of India for allowing me to a part of this launch.
